Cinematographer

As a cinematographer, my job is to listen to the Director, to understand what is needed, then to translate into the right image. To be a good cinematographer is more about listening first to the vision of the writer/director and understanding the finished look required.  To understand the mood, the colours, the feel of the film is, in my opinion, the first important task of a cinematographer.  After that, it’s about guiding the audience gently down a path, allowing them to feel what the director has in store for them and to discover the story.

I am happy to take direction and to offer an opinion on all aspects of the shoot. I am easy to work with, never late and happy to try things a little differently. I can supply references on request and I am happy to be involved in shot planning and recce, as well as equipment recommendations.

I am a fully self-contained cinematographer with a full HD kit.me_working

LA, Hitchcock and other stuff!

Well welcome back and here's the LA report.  I have been trying to think of ways to comment on what was said without sounding arrogant, but the truth is, there aren't any.  After SPEED DATE & THE DINNER PARTY were shown, back to back on consecutive nights, the comments were quite humbling.  Industry people, with decades of experience commented that " this guy is creating a whole new genre of films".  Comments like this have been thrown at filmmakers that I have nothing but respect for, like Hitchcock, who is the godfather of doing things in his own unique way, so when the reports came back to me, I was just a little numb and that's putting it mildly.  Now nobody actually gave this new genre a name, so we are safe from any obscure branding, although i'm sure some of you will have some suggestions, as I usually get some very witty comments from those of you that read this regularly. The Doors are closed!

It's been a while, yet again, but with over 3000 of you each month, hopefully this post will keep you all informed, as it's been a busy time.  First of all, 'Resistance' is now in full swing and although the shooting schedule of February 2012 is ambitious, it's all on track, with Populus Pictures giving me everything I have asked for to date.  It's great to have a forward thinking team behind me and i'm sure that the film I have been desperate to make for almost 2 years is now well on the way to achieving all it should.  I'd love to be able to tell you all who the cast is, but producers and agents, as well as contracts do not allow me to do this right now, but needless to say, an OSCAR winner will always help us when it comes to making a great film. AOF

Just a quick update!  It's been a manic week, but with lots to report about.  'Bitches' is confirmed as the next film for MASIVE Films, scheduled to shoot this summer.  Also really happy to confirm that we will premier 'Speed Date' at AOF Film Festival in July.  AOF is one of the best attended and supported festivals around right now, so we are really happy to have it shown there for the very first time.  I will also get the chance to finally meet Caitlin too, the writer of 'Resistance', as until now, it's been all email and and it will be great to catch up with her too.  Thanks for your continued support! x
